Lumberjack World Championships® Proud to Announce John Deere and Nortrax as 2012 Event Title Sponsors
HAYWARD, WI – The Lumberjack World Championships® is pleased to announce that John Deere and Nortrax will be Title Sponsors of the 53rd Annual Lumberjack World Championships® event to be held in Hayward, Wisconsin, July 27-29, 2012, at historic Lumberjack Bowl.
“John Deere has proudly sponsored this exciting event for the last two years, and we’re thrilled to be involved again this year,” said Nate Clark, Forestry Tactical Marketing Manager, John Deere Construction & Forestry. “The forestry industry is near and dear to us, and we’re looking forward to connecting with our customers from around the world in Northwest Wisconsin.”
Over 125 sawyers, choppers, log rollers and pole climbers from Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the United States will compete for over $50,000 in cash and prizes in the “grandest lumberjack competition of them all” this July in Hayward. The world-class event especially recognizes women in the timber sports arena.
“The history of this event relives some of the great heritage of the logging boom and our rich timber history that put Hayward on the map. The log-holding pond of yesterday known as Lumberjack Bowl creates the best venue anywhere to watch a Lumberjack competition,” said Lumberjack World Championships Board President D.J. Aderman. “Here we are 53 years later and the event continues to draw over 12,000-plus spectators to Hayward. The Championships are a salute to the timber industry and the history of our region. We are proud to say that after 53 years of competition, we are one of the longest, independently-run sporting events in the country. The Lumberjack World Championships® showcases over 21 unique competitions and world records in events ranging from men's and women's logrolling, to chopping and the exciting pole climb. Over 125 competitors vie each year for more than $50,000 in prize money, making this one of the largest purses for lumberjack competition in the world.
