LOG ROLLING AND BOOM RUN

Emily Emily Christopherson
A 5th year senior at UW LaCrosse, majoring in elementary education and Spanish, Emily is an active member of both the UWL swim team and water polo club. Interested in all water sports, Emily saw her first log rolling class at the local YMCA at the age of 11 and immediately decided this was a sport she needed to try. Competing in only 1 or 2 competitions a year while in high school, Emily began to focus more on log rolling once she hit college. Last year Emily took home the silver in Women's Log Rolling and has made her goal for 2010 to be "working on being steadier on the log and having longer matches".

Tyler Tyler Fischer
Twenty year old Tyler, an avid hockey player from Hudson, Wisconsin is a cousin of multi- year champion Jamie Fischer. Being able to train on Jamie's backyard boom run has paid off as he placed third last year in the Men's Boom Run with a time of 13.77.

Jamie Jamie Fischer
Fisher, attributes his success in the boom run and logrolling to his long family heritage and to his own private boom run set up in the backyard of his Stillwater, MN home. Fisher shattered his previous world record time of: 12.98 in the Men's Boom Run set in 2004, with a new world record of: 12.49 at the 2005 Championships, which still stands to this day. Fischer is the holder of 7 continuous Boom Run World Championships and also holds the 2003-2004 and 2006 Men's Log Rolling crowns. Fischer, took home second place in last year's Men's Open Log Rolling and Men's Boom Run as well as a 3rd place finish in the Axe Throw. Committed to the sport of log rolling, Fischer is an ardent promoter of the sport and has started several log rolling schools throughout the country.

Abby Abby Hoeschler
Abby,the youngest of the three daughters of world champion Judy(Scheer)Hoeschler, once held the distinction of the being the youngest boom runner in the finals at age 14. Now 23, Abby took home the bronze in both the Women's Boom Run and Women's Log Rolling at last year's event.

Katie Katie Hoeschler
Katie, 28, oldest of the Hoeschler clan, has been involved with the sport of log rolling since age 4. A realtor from La Crosse, WI, Hoeschler comes from a family of log rollers and boom runners with her mother Judy, a seven time world champion. Both her brother Will, and two sisters Elizabeth and Abby, are also champion log rollers. Following in her mother's birling shoes, Katie took home first place in last year's Women's Log Rolling.

Will Will Hoeschler
Will, age 18, is the youngest in the Hoeschler family and a relative newcomer to the pro ranks. However, Will is no stranger to the demands of training and balance required to become a champion logroller and boom runner. Last year Will took first place in the Men's Boom Run over such veterans as Jamie and Tyler Fischer and Darren Hudson.

Darren Darren Hudson
Hudson, 32, from Barrington, Nova Scotia comes from a family with a long history of competing at the Lumberjack World Championships. He is the nephew of nine-time world champion Phil Scott, who Darren credits for his success. Hudson, who has been competing for over 20 years, took a 3rd place finish in the Men's Log Rolling by defeating David Sievert last year. A multi-talented competitor, Hudson also placed 4th in both the Men's Boom Run and the 90 ft. Speed Climb.

Shana Shana Martin
A Madison native, Shana is a young woman who has been involved in a wide variety of fitness and sports activities her whole life. Her first love however, has always been log rolling, a love affair that began when she first started lessons as a 7 year old at the Madison YMCA. Competing as a pro since 1997, Shana states that "I just love being a lumberjill"! Obviously her love of the sport and her competitive nature paid off last year for her as she took home the gold in the Women's Boom Run.

JR JR Salzman
Salzman, 30, currently resides in Menomonie, WI where he is studying to become a tech ed teacher at UW Stout. JR is a Hayward native who first learned to logroll during the summers in Lumberjack Bowl along with older sister Tina, an ESPY award winner and holder of 10 Women's Log Rolling titles. The Six Time Men's World Logrolling Champion, (1998-2002 and 2005)and 3 Time Men's Boom Run Champion (1996-97 and 2000) JR came back to seek his 7th title after a 2 year absence with the MN Army National Guard. While serving in Iraq, JR was severly injured by an IED explosion. Though he lost his right arm in the explosion, he was never discouraged from wanting to seek another title. Last year in a fierce competition with Jamie Fischer, JR was victorious and was crowned the 2009 Men's Logrolling Champion.

Alyse Alyse Schroeder
Schroeder, 20, from Hayward, Wisconsin trains daily in the summer with her younger sister Lauryn, also a log roller, either at her home or at the Lumberjack Bowl. Holding 5 amateur log rolling titles, this Penn State toxicology student has made her mark in the pro ranks. Last year she placed 4th in both the Women's Boom Run and Women's Log Rolling.

David David Sievert
A Hayward native, Sievert started log rolling at the age of 5 at the Lumberjack Bowl in Hayward. David continues to practice and train at Lumberjack Bowl, where he was taught by many of Hayward's past champions. A student at California Lutheran Collge, Sievert can now add his name to the list of hometown champions as he placed 4th in the Men's Log Rolling Championships against Darren Hudson last year.

Mandy Mandy Sobiech
Mandy Sobiech, 27, formerly Erdmann, is a Six-Time World Champion Boom Runner who stills holds the World Record time of :14.42 set in 2005. Newly married, Mandy returned in top competitive form to capture a second place finish in last year's Women's Boom Run.
